School Background

Established in 2004 as Oasis International School with 65 students, OIS was located in an office building in the city of Ankara during the first 12 years. In 2016 with a growing student population and the need for more space, OIS relocated outside of the city on a spacious campus, with two main buildings separated by a sports area. The main building houses the administrative offices, separate sections for elementary and secondary classrooms, two lunchrooms, a recreational area, and a small sports area for elementary students. The second building has two sports courts, locker rooms, and a 300 seat auditorium. OIS is the leading international school in Ankara, offering a rigorous American PreK-12 curriculum taught by well trained teachers from English speaking universities, mostly from the United States. Currently OIS has approximately 435 students representing 73 nations from every inhabited continent.

Job Summary

This job requires a counselor/teacher who is willing to join a team of professional educators in an international setting. All staff uphold the OIS values of affirming the worth of truth, exemplifying excellence, and embracing diversity.

General Responsibilities

The Guidance Counselor will work with the whole school on individual student planning, responsive services, prevention activities on social/emotional topics, and support services. Guidance Counselors have taught related courses (Career Education and/or Psychology), and oversees the CollegeBoard testing.

Current state or provincial issued teacher certification 

Minimum of an undergraduate degree

The OASIS Guidance Counselor plays a pivotal role in guiding students through their high school journey, meticulously preparing them for university admission and future endeavors. They provide empathetic support for the social and emotional well-being of students in a nurturing environment. Facilitating family meetings upon request, they advocate for students and empower them to self-advocate when necessary. Additionally, they offer comprehensive prevention instruction across all grade levels and may teach a Career Education elective for high schoolers. Furthermore, they assist with school-wide testing initiatives, including MAP, SAT, and PSAT assessments, ensuring students are well-equipped for academic success.
