School Director’s Job Description



1.    Must be/become a member of Oasis.

2.    A Master’s degree with a major in educational administration

3.    Meets certification requirements of recognized accrediting agency responsible for issuance of school’s accreditation

4.    Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of Oasis may find appropriate and acceptable

5.    Skilled in leading transitional situations

JOB GOAL:                       

To provide leadership in developing and maintaining a distinctive Christian educational philosophy in the context of an Oasis environment and the best possible educational and ministry program and services



1.  To exhibit necessary skills in an understanding of an independent school and carefully initiate the necessary transitions to becoming a network school.

2.  To be accountable to the Oasis Board of Directors via the offices of the President and Vice President of School Operations for the assigned school, through transitional implementation of the Oasis School Policies and Oasis Policies and Administrative Guidelines.

3.  Administers the planning, development, coordination, and evaluation of the total operation of assigned school on behalf of Oasis.

4.  Delegates responsibility for all administrative units but is responsible to the VPSO and Oasis for the results produced.

5.  Prepares the annual budget as necessary to assure maximum utilization of funds to accomplish the mission, transition budgetary issues to the Oasis system and compliancy, and educational and ministry goals of the school.

6.  Adheres to professional, ethical, and moral standards of conduct in the transaction of all school business.

7.  Responsible for the hiring/appointment of all Oasis and other staff for the school according to the guidelines of the school and the agency. (Additional administrative appointments shall have the approval of the VPSO; Business Manager shall have the approval of the Oasis CFO.)

8.  Makes needed personnel adjustments, assignments and transfers, approves suspensions, sick leave, and personal leave as outlined in the school’s local administrative guidelines and Oasis Administrative Guidelines.  Dismisses personnel when necessary following local school guidelines, as well as Oasis policies and procedures.

9.  Provides the VPSO and the school community with the necessary information to keep them informed of the progress and activities of the educational program.

10.  Serves as the representative of Oasis on the field and its leadership, and provides the Senior V.P., VPSO and President of Oasis with the necessary information to keep them informed of the progress and activities of the ministry of the school, including the transitional issues.

11.  Ensures that school operations properly represent the ministry of Oasis as determined by the Board and President of Oasis, and works in harmony, cooperation, and compliance with that leadership and in cooperation with the Home Office.

12.  Appropriately promotes and positively identifies the local school with the Oasis organization in such a way that builds a positive image of the mother organization on the field and among the school community.

13.  Administers the school program in conformity to the mission, purpose and values of the assigned school and Oasis; the Oasis School Policies and Administrative Guidelines, and the regulations of the Operations Agreement as signed by the assigned school’s Local Ownership Board and Oasis, Inc.

14.  To build a team of employees who are evangelical, mission-minded Christians, in agreement with the Oasis and assigned school’s mission, statement of faith and philosophy, while working with existing staff.

15.  To ensure the development and implementation of a school-wide plan for discipleship and Biblical integration, as appropriate in an Oasis environment.

16.  Attend the Annual Leadership Conference typically held in February and the regional meetings of Oasis leadership.  Assure the Oasis monthly ministry and financial reports, as well as the Annual Field Report, are sent to the Oasis Home Office according to the schedule prescribed by the Oasis Home Office. Assure policy monitoring reports are filed on time and according to proper instructions for such reports.

17.  Carry the responsibility to safeguard the long-term relationship between the local school and Oasis, ensuring that all host-country registrations, contracts, permissions, paperwork, etc. are kept current, and solidify to the greatest extent possible the permanent relationship between the local school and its mother organization Oasis, enabling identified transition issues to be resolved as quickly as possible.

18.  The school director will be responsible for honoring the details of the transitional Operations Agreement between the school and Oasis.

19.  Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the VPSO and President of Oasis as the need requires.
